Corridor of Death
June 1944. The successful landings on D-Day have led to a frightening new dimension on the battlefield. The scramble across heavily-fortified beaches has now devolved to a slow and tense game of cat-and-mouse, with marshes, rivers, and hedgerows forming a deadly maze permeating the Norman countryside. Here in this dry marsh bed is one such encounter, as a Bren gunner of the British 6th Airborne Division prepares to engage a patrol of unsuspecting German troops.

On the Backfoot
The disastrous campaign in France has taken its toll; the combined Anglo-French forces now retreat in (relatively) good order.
---

Was digging through my folders and found this alternate take of an earlier pic over the summer. I quite like the darker tone of this one, as I feel it conveys the sense of defeat more effectively than the original. I hope you all enjoy!

Coal Mountain
Taken in Naoma, West Virginia.

That snowy 'mountain range' in the back is all sediment accumulated from a coal mine in the valley below. It didn't occur to me until afterwards what it was that I was really looking at when I took this shot, but it's a sobering example of how even the most tame of nature scenes can still have very overt industrial influences.

"In nerf war the first casualty is innocence."

Just an ordinary manchild who's time is split between going to college in Roanoke, Virginia and working at the Sierra Toy Soldier company at home here in California. The pictures and displays seen here are what I do for the company's page though I may expand into other kinds of submissions later down the line.

I am very enthusiastic when it comes to history and very much want to improve on my skills with photos and building dioramas, constructive criticism is always welcome!
Interests
Hello everyone,

In less than six hours I'll be on a flight back to Salem, VA for the spring semester of my junior year. While I'm ecstatic to be going back, it does mean that I won't be submitting much of anything on here until sometime in June when I come back home to work.

That being said, to say that I'm anticipating some wonderful opportunities for when I return would be a pretty big understatement. The things that I have learned and improved upon in terms of photography and scene-building have been immense in the month that I have been back in town and newly-discovered locations such as Game Kastle, with its' fantastic array of terrain-building assets is definitely going to be a recurring source of inspiration this summer.

And last, but not least, it cannot be overstated just how much personal growth is owed to the friendly faces here on DA and similar forums such as Treefrog Treasures for your generous support. The sort of passion for history expressed through various mediums that I have seen on here is something that I sincerely hope to bring forward in the time to come, and I want to thank each and every one of you for helping me find this passion too.

Thank you all, and have a happy new year!
